Inspiration
Confidence isn't something everyone is born with. Millions of people struggle with social anxiety, fear of judgment, low self-esteem, and hesitation when interacting with others. These challenges often stop people from making friends, speaking up in class, attending interviews, networking, or pursuing opportunities that could change their lives.
We wanted to build something that goes beyond motivational quotes or generic self-help advice. Our vision was to create an app that helps users build confidence through small, consistent actions. That's how BraveQuest was born—a gamified self-improvement platform that turns personal growth into an achievable daily journey.
What It Does
BraveQuest helps users gradually overcome social anxiety and build confidence through personalized daily challenges.
The platform guides users with:
- Personalized confidence-building challenges
- Daily quests that gradually increase in difficulty
- Guided meditation and breathing exercises to reduce anxiety
- A reflection journal to track thoughts and emotions
- Progress tracking with streaks, achievements, and milestones
- Motivation through gamification and rewarding consistency
Instead of expecting users to make drastic changes overnight, BraveQuest encourages small, manageable steps that compound into lasting confidence.
How We Built It
We designed BraveQuest with a mobile-first approach, focusing on simplicity, accessibility, and an engaging user experience.
The frontend was built using SvelteKit, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS, allowing us to create a fast, responsive interface with smooth interactions. We used reusable UI components and modern design principles to maintain consistency throughout the application.
The interface was carefully crafted with calming colors, intuitive navigation, and clean layouts to ensure users feel comfortable while using the app. We also incorporated subtle animations and gamification elements to make completing daily challenges enjoyable and motivating.
The project was developed collaboratively using Git and GitHub, deployed on Netlify, and refined through multiple design iterations.
Challenges We Ran Into
One of the biggest challenges was designing a progression system that genuinely motivates users without overwhelming them. If challenges were too easy, users wouldn't feel they were growing; if they were too difficult, many would lose motivation.
We solved this by introducing a gradual difficulty curve where users start with simple tasks and steadily progress toward more challenging social interactions.
Another challenge was balancing a modern interface with accessibility. Since the app targets users who may already feel anxious, every screen had to remain calm, uncluttered, and easy to navigate. We spent considerable time refining layouts, colors, typography, and spacing to create an environment that feels welcoming rather than intimidating.
Ensuring responsiveness across different devices while maintaining smooth animations also required multiple rounds of testing and refinement.
What We Learned
Building BraveQuest taught us that creating products for mental well-being requires much more than technical implementation. User psychology, empathy, accessibility, and thoughtful design play just as important a role as writing code.
We also strengthened our skills in modern frontend development with SvelteKit, component-based architecture, responsive UI design, and collaborative development workflows. Most importantly, we learned how small, consistent improvements can create meaningful user experiences.
