Inspiration Inspired by the success of decentralized networks in NYC and Scandinavia, we saw an opportunity to bring resilient communication solutions to the Lehigh Valley through Lora technology.
What it does The project facilitates a robust decentralized network that streams telemetry, messages, and alerts across the Lehigh Valley without reliance on traditional internet infrastructure.
How we built it We built the network using off-the-shelf Lora modules and open-source Meshtastic software, customizing the system for optimal performance in varied Lehigh Valley terrains.
Challenges we ran into We encountered obstacles in optimizing signal strength over long distances and ensuring reliable message delivery in urban and rural settings alike.
Accomplishments that we're proud of We are proud of creating a scalable and efficient decentralized network that maintained high reliability and low latency during our tests in the Lehigh Valley.
What we learned Throughout this project, we gained valuable insights into network topology, the nuances of radio frequency communication, and the practical challenges of deploying IoT devices in the field.
What's next for Branch-Out Swings on Meshtastic Lora Network Moving forward, we aim to expand the network's coverage, integrate more community services, and explore sustainable energy solutions for the network's hardware.
