This project aims to provide an all-in-one platform where you can chat with your classmates, share school documents and study them with the help of an AI assistant!

Inspiration

Looking at the decline in classmate interactions and community in cegep, we thought of a way we could incorporate teamwork into an all in one academic platform, inspired by multiple other school sites.

What it does

Using Brainshare, you can connect to a chatroom with your classmates, add documents to the shared class storage and analyze them/get help from an AI study chatbot.

How we built it

The app was built using flask, the chatbot being supported by Backboard's Gemini-3.0 Flash API, and the whole app being hosted on a Vultr server associated with the brainshare.tech domain.

Challenges we ran into

No one in our team was familiar with Flask before this hackathon, and as such troubleshooting was sometimes quite complicated. With the help of AI, we were able to learn about it and bring our ideas to reality.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Having a functional app accessible anywhere was an accomplishment we were quite proud of

The use of Flask, sqlalchemy, Backboard and socketio's python libraries

What's next for BrainShare

The app may be improved upon by adding more organization features and classroom codes to let people have access to multiple classroom groups.
