Brain Ink was inspired by the urgent need to address education inequality across Africa, where over 90 million youth lack access to quality, engaging learning experiences. Observing how students naturally form study groups on platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram, we set out to build an AI-powered, gamified ecosystem that transforms casual group chats into structured, competitive learning environments. Using tools like OpenAI, XMTP, and Base, we created an AI study agent that delivers quizzes, feedback, and matchmaking, while our Mini-App tracks progress through XP, badges, and leaderboards. Despite being fully bootstrapped, we’ve launched pilot partnerships in Rwandan schools and engaged hundreds of early testers across East Africa — showing that with the right tools, motivation, and structure, African youth can thrive academically and socially.
