Inspiration

Sometimes when you meet an interesting person, you can dig out a thing clearly by talking about it. You'll get a lot of inspirations through those inspiring conversations. While it's not easy to find such chances, I decided to create one using AI, so that we can easily access a meaningful conversation and talk out our thoughts, make them clear.

What it does

This tool mocks a podcast conversation context. You can talk with AI like a podcast, sharing what you're thinking, and AI will act as an experienced host, leading you to think deeper. At the end of the conversation, this tool will generate an article about what you've discussed.

How we built it

Built it in AI Studio with Gemini.

Challenges we ran into

• Making the conversation feel natural: Getting the AI to ask follow-up questions that actually relate to what I said, rather than generic questions, took a lot of prompt refinement
• Conversation pacing: Finding the right balance between letting me talk freely and the AI guiding the direction was tricky
• Converting speech to writing: The article generation had to transform casual, spoken language into readable written content while keeping my original meaning
• Knowing when to end: Programming the AI to recognize when we've explored a topic enough and it's time to wrap up

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Created something that actually makes me excited to explore my own thoughts
• The AI genuinely helps me think deeper about topics I thought I already understood
• Successfully bridged the gap between casual conversation and formal article output
• Built a working prototype during the hackathon timeframe
• The generated articles actually capture what I meant, not just what I said

What we learned

• Prompt engineering is key: Small changes in how I instruct Gemini completely change the conversation quality
• The power of conversation for thinking: I learned that talking really does help clarify thoughts in ways writing doesn't
• AI can be a thinking partner: Not just a tool, but something that helps you discover your own ideas
• User experience matters more than features: A simple, smooth conversation beats a complex tool with many options

What's next for DialogueUnfold

• Multiple conversation formats: Different interview styles (deep dive, brainstorming, debate, reflection)
• Export options: Let users save articles in different formats (blog post, essay, notes)
• Conversation history: Save past conversations so users can build on previous discussions
• Share conversations: Allow users to share interesting dialogues with others
• Personal insights over time: Track themes and ideas that emerge across multiple conversations
