Inspiration
Students often experience not knowing when to take breaks while studying. Long hours of uninterrupted focus can lead to burnout, decreased productivity, and mental fatigue. We wanted to create a tool that helps students optimize their study sessions by providing personalized break reminders based on their focus levels.
What it does
The program will present simple yet focus-requiring timed questions (basic math, pattern recognition, general knowledge). If the user takes too long or answers incorrectly, it contributes to their fatigue score. Points are assigned based on response time, accuracy, and a self-reported tiredness level.
How we built it
We developed BrainBoost using Python.
Challenges we ran into
Since we were new to GitHub, we had to learn how to push, pull, and manage our repository. Coming up with the main idea also took us some time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was our first Hackathon and we are proud that we completed a successful prototype in time! We worked really well with each other. We also have not coded in Python since last year (we are all only learning Java this year) so it was a good refresher for us.
What we learned
How to use GitHub for team collaboration (push, pull, fetch). How to use charts in Python. Time module in Python.
What's next for BrainBoost
We will discuss this in our presentation!
