Inspiration

The inspiration for this project started when homework did. Arthur struggled to keep up because he didn't know where to begin and how to stay on track. After talks with his teachers and his psychologist(plus a lot of detentions), we found a key and built this app around it.

What it does

FocusPaw

1) prioritizes homework based on due dates and how hard the assignment is. It is like pomodoro technique, but our work session is 50 mins followed by 10 mins, which Arthur finds very effective for him. Users can just put in what needs to be done. Our app will smart sort based on the priority rules. This is help users get started. 2) keeps users on track by timing the work session after they start. The mochi companion will also check on the user every 10 mins ( based on the user's preference/setting) by asking "are you on track?". In case the user is spacing out, the Mochi can gently redirecting them back to task.

How we built it

To build our app, we used Claude code and eventually made our simple, cute, and functional app. I genuinely like it way more that I thought I would.

Challenges we ran into

We actually had to restart multiple times and nearly gave up but with lots of effort pushed to the end. We used Claude AI to make our app, although it was sometimes very overwhelming. I loved every second.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the final result, the way we pushed through hardships. We are glad we can help other neurodiverse students because we know they need the help.

What we learned

We have learned lots of valuable insight, like how to double check details for errors, how to start over when things don't go as planned, and most importantly, how to communicate and work with others.
