BrainDump – Your Mental Health Personal Assistant 🚀 ##Inspiration

Mental health is a pressing issue in my community, affecting both students and adults. Many people struggle to recognize the root causes of their stress, trapping themselves in a cycle of anxiety and burnout. BrainDump was created to break that cycle — helping users reflect, track, and understand their mental well-being through a simple daily habit.

💡 ##What it does

BrainDump empowers users to manage their personal affairs through daily “BrainDumps.”

Users log their mood, activities, and symptoms each day.

The app compiles this data into an intuitive dashboard, making it easy to recognize stressors, trends, and improvements over time.

Features include:

Mood tracking

Journaling with photo support

Symptom logging

Export to PDF reports for personal reflection or sharing with a therapist

🛠️ How we built it

Language/Framework: Swift in Xcode

Core Features: Journal entries, photo libraries, mood/symptom trackers

Exporting: Implemented PDF download & syncing, which was initially challenging but ultimately rewarding

⚡##Challenges we ran into

Getting PDF export to work properly was a major hurdle.

Balancing data storage (photos, journals, logs) while keeping the app lightweight.

Designing a simple yet clean UI that users can engage with daily.

🏆 ##Accomplishments we’re proud of

Delivered all the features we envisioned — photo libraries, journal entries, daily trackers, and PDF exports.

The app works reliably and feels like a complete tool rather than just a prototype.

Took our first big step with Swift and successfully built a fully functional app.

📚 ##What we learned

Deepened our understanding of Swift and Xcode development workflows.

Gained practical experience in UI/UX design for mental health-focused apps.

Learned the importance of user-centered simplicity when designing daily-use apps.

🔮 ##What’s next for BrainDump

UI/UX polish: Smoother visuals, animations, and personalization options.

Adding AI-powered insights: Help users spot stress patterns or mood triggers automatically.

Expanding data visualization: Graphs and charts to make trends more engaging.

Potential cloud backup & syncing across devices for secure accessibility.
