Summary of Major Updates (Competition Period)

During this competition cycle, Brain Symphony received one of its largest updates to date. We redesigned the entire UX flow to create a more immersive, intuitive, and calming experience. We introduced male and female voice options making the application more accessible and personal for users worldwide.

Key updates include:

  • New painting mechanic for the art therapy module
  • Additional hand interactions added across relevant scenarios
  • New karaoke/music module for Theatre/Piano, and Music scenes
  • Improved audio effects and ambiance
  • Performance optimisations for smoother play on Meta Quest devices

These improvements deepen engagement, increase comfort, and evolve Brain Symphony into a more interactive VR wellbeing platform.

Inspiration

Brain Symphony was inspired by the need for a modern and more immersive approach to mental wellbeing. Traditional meditation applications often feel passive or repetitive. We wanted to build a solution that allows users to step instantly out of stress and into calming, carefully designed VR worlds that support relaxation, creativity, and emotional reset.

Our concept combines VR immersion, gamification, and therapeutic principles. Through personal experiences with stress and burnout, we learned how powerful VR can be when designed to support mindfulness, grounding, and emotional balance. This guided our mission: to create a wellbeing tool that feels alive, interactive, and genuinely helpful.

What It Does

Brain Symphony helps users:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Meditate through guided sessions
  • Practice structured breathing exercises
  • Express creativity through art therapy
  • Play relaxation-oriented mini-games
  • Explore peaceful and beautifully crafted VR environments

The experience blends meditation, creativity, and interactive wellbeing within immersive VR scenes inspired by nature, music, and artistic expression.

How We Built It

Brain Symphony was developed through several iterative cycles. We researched existing wellness and meditation apps, identifying gaps in engagement and accessibility. Using Unity, we built modular systems for meditation, breathing, art therapy, and interactive scenes.

A major part of the development process involved beta testers from different age groups and backgrounds. Their feedback helped refine usability, comfort, scene pacing, and feature priorities.

We also conducted in-person hands-on sessions, observing how users interacted naturally with the environments. These sessions guided improvements to hand-tracking gestures, UX layout, onboarding flow, and visual clarity.

Performance optimisation was carried out continuously through profiling on Meta Quest hardware, ensuring stable frame rates and comfortable VR experiences.

Challenges We Ran Into

Our main challenges included optimizing performance for standalone devices, creating ergonomic hand interactions, and maintaining simplicity while preserving immersion. Localising voices naturally and adjusting UX flow for beginners were also key challenges.

Accomplishments

  • A product that improves users’ emotional wellbeing
  • Growing visibility in 35+ countries
  • Official participation at United XR Europe 2025
  • Media attention and new business opportunities

What We Learned

We learned how users engage with VR wellbeing tools, what relaxation features matter most, and how important comfort and simplicity are in immersive design.

What’s Next

Future plans include:

  • Yoga and body-flow modules
  • Multiplayer relaxation sessions
  • More interactive scenes and creative tools

Brain Symphony will continue evolving based on community feedback and user needs.
