Note: this is in no order and simply preliminary information right now

There are two tech entrepreneurs who in the 90's founded finance companies: PayPal and Braintree. Today, in 2018, they founded neurotechnology companies: Neuralink.com and https://kernel.co. They are studying how to connect brains to computers because artificial intelligence will automated the jobs of people so we have to keep up.

Inspiration: A college student wondered why the brain produces bad emotions like anxiety and anger. He then stepped back and realized that just like him, others wondered about a solution.

What it does: build "advanced (safe) neural interfaces to help researchers and clinicians better understand neurological diseases and dysfunctions such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, depression and anxiety, illuminate the mechanisms of intelligence, and extend cognition."

Reading and writing neural code will help us understand ourselves better and the flaws we have.

Perhaps we Quantify, Categorize, Proactively manage, and Innovate. . “Estimates are that each and every one of us experiences almost 80,000 thoughts a day. We do not have the tools or knowledge to be able to talk about the brain numbers, comparisons, and metrics.” Doing this might help us because we can use AI for the areas that take up our brains energy.

The possibility for Kernel is to use AI so that it assumes logic/reason-based responsibilities for us so we can focus on higher order thinking such as creativity, emotions and complexity.

Hope to enhance our brain with new senses, three dimensions.

Brain apps hope to remove the fear emotion, the disgust emotion, the sadness emotion, the depression emotion, the shame emotion, the envy emotion, the pessimistic point of view, the conspiracist point of view, the communist point of view, the sexist point of view, the capitalist point of view, the nihilist point of view.

Enhance our brain with new senses

Three dimensions

“Quantify our neural network activity in real, concrete numbers.”

“Build a new language and communication architectures”

Categorize thoughts into feelings

Companies working on this include: Kernel Co and Neuralink. There's also other companies mentioned in the 3D Bioprint project who are in this field they include Neural Analytics, Mindstrong Health, InteraXon(Muse), Mind Mazd, Rythm, Neuropace, electroCore, BrainCo, Neuronetics, Neurable, AlevaNeurothertherautics, Paradromics, BrainCheck, Neuros Medical, Darmiyan, RightEye, LLC., SyncThink, SPR Therapeutics, Flow Neuroscience, Synchron, Inc., BrainSpec, Biodirection, Cognixion, Nexstim, ModiusHealth, NeuroPlus, Versus, Sense Diagnostics, LLC.,, Altoida, Neuroqore

How its built: "A high bandwidth interface to the brain. We're currently bandwidth limited. We have a digital tertiary cell in form of interface between the cortex and the tertiary digital form of yourself." .. “Connects with the brain through some variation of noninvasive interfaces being developed by scientists around the world, from tiny sensors that could be injected into the brain to genetically engineered neurons that can exchange data wirelessly with a hatlike receiver."

Challenges I ran into: tbd

Accomplishments that I'm proud of: tbd

What I learned: “The brain is designed to make you survive. It’s 2 million years old. It doesn’t have a saber-toothed tiger to worry about so it worries about how do I look, what do people think of me, so we make up this stuff to suffer about inside our head cause the mind is saying flight or fight but you’re more than your mind.” ..”You bring someone into the lab. They say they are feeling fear. You scan them with an mri you can see that their amygdala response is heightened, you can measure the sweat on their palms and see that there is a galvonic skin response. You can check their blood cortisol and see that it is spiking, see these now are considered objective third person measures of fear but if half of the people came into the lab and showed none of these signs when their cortisol spike, these objective measures would no longer be objective measures of fear.”

What's next for Brain apps: tbd

“We’re already smarter than we use to be because of this technology we carry around in our belts. But it’s going to be inside of our bodies and brains keeping us healthy, making us smarter. We’re going to be more creative, better able to express love to our sentiments.”
