Inspiration

We want to connect the Pittsburgh community together on a communal and common issue.

What it does

Pet Patrol brings the community together to locate pets that are missing.

How we built it

  1. Researched how to use Android Studio and GitHub
  2. Brainstormed ideas and the different pages of our app
  3. Delegated and divided tasks for each person
  4. Developed the different pages of our app
  5. Implemented the file storage system

Challenges we ran into

  • Display challenges
  • Arranging constraints in Android
  • Learning how to create notifications
  • Mental exhaustion

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Gained familiarity with the software necessary to create our app.
  • Learned about file storage systems
  • Gained knowledge in using Cloud and Firebase
  • Understood how to use proper tutorials

What we learned

Through this experience, we learned the various stages of app production. Firstly, we researched various tactics we could use to create our app. For example, we learned how to constrain the various parts of the display. Secondly, we honed in on our collaboration skills, brainstorming ideas together to create a mental image of our product. Thirdly, we gained hands-on experience on how to code and create an aesthetic display for our product.

What's next for BPetPatrol

We hope to expand to other communities throughout the US and internationally, letting our apps be used in a variety of situations to help pet owners across the world.
