Inspiration
BoxType was inspired by alphabet blocks used by children.
How it works
Grab an alphabet to type it.
Competitors
Other touchless typing software such as DexType and Minuum rely on auto-correct because users will frequently make mistakes on their touchless keyboards. On the other hand, BoxType is zero-accuracy typing, and can be used for typing which cannot be auto-corrected, such as inputting usernames in games.
Challenges we ran into
It was difficult to display all the cubes on the screen at the same time. Also, due to time constraints we did not use more advanced graphics, such as displaying the hand on the screen, or making the cubes more visually appealing.
What's next for BoxType
- Use 2 hands at once to type faster.
- Port to Unity 3D for use in virtual reality games.
