Inspiration:
We wanted to create a simple yet helpful project for this hackathon even though we were all beginners.
What it does:
The program precisely generates a svg file so that the perfect box can be cut via laser cutter.
How we built it:
We decided to use react to build the webpage/app
Challenges we ran into:
The main challenge was we were all beginners and there was no time to learn how to code using react properly, therefore we ran into many problems with the code. For example, our box function was made to take on floats but our user input was string; it took us a while to find out how to fix.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
We are proud we can present a working prototype during this time!
What we learned:
We became more familiar with the react syntax!
What's next for boxcutter:
we hope to add many more modes for cutting different types of boxes; like irregular shapes such as a trapezoid.
