Inspiration
We took inspiration from a Virtual Reality head gear. Most models have sensors around the frame, which we took inspiration from and used on our robot.
What it does
The BoxBot ensures smooth pacing when packaging throughout the warehouse and sorts products into separate categories.
How we built it
We designed our project by considering the required parts that would make sense for a robot. For instance, a group of wheels was a necessity, which assures speed and efficiency.
Challenges we ran into
We were stumped when we thought logically of how the robot would function. one of our thoughts were 'how could this robot hold a variety of different weighted objects without dropping them or being too fragile to hold them?' So, we added two compartments to the BoxBot. That way, the robot can place them in there and travel around freely.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We accomplished on making a safer and improved machine that reduces labor and has more inventory space to sort.
What we learned
We learned how these different functions (sorting, moving, scanning, and organizing) can go together to successfully to change and solve the issues of others.
What's next for BoxBot
Boxbot will be able to help others in the manufacturing industry and could be a useful design when considering the aspects of it, such as its shape, size, and structure.
