Inspiration
As a kid my parents always locked stuff up, but I’d always figure a way to unlock it myself. With this there will be no more fear that a child can access things they aren’t supposed to!
What it does
Uses RFID technology to read an RFID card and provide access to the box based on the cards UID
How we built it
The box was built using a cardboard box, an arduino, a 5v relay, a 7v motor, a 7v external power supply, a RFID module, and arduino code.
Challenges we ran into
Initially the code wouldn’t allow the same card to be scanned multiple times, this problem was solved initially however when the relay is switched it broke again.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was my first ever hackathon and first time ever using an arduino and a RFID module.
What we learned
I learned how to code an arduino, the pins and code for an RFID module. I also learned quick problem solving when it came to coding as it was never my strong suit.
What's next for Box Lock
What’s next would be consolidated parts, a 5v actuator instead of a 7v motor to lock the box (also to prevent the need for a relay), a stronger box with mounted internals, and discrete wiring or a secondary internal power supply (can run with or without external power).
