We are on the Maker track related to the Best 5C Community Hack
Inspiration
We wanted to create a platform that empowers communities by making task-sharing and skill-trading simple and rewarding. Whether it's paying for services or bartering favors, Bountee connects people to get things done.
What it does
Bountee is a commission-based web app where users can post tasks (Bountees) for others to complete—either for payment or through barter. It’s a flexible way to exchange services, skills, and favors within a trusted community.
How we built it
Frontend: Built a clean, responsive UI with React and React Router for seamless navigation.
Backend: Developed a custom database model to handle task listings, user interactions, and payment/swap logic.
DevOps: Integrated Docker for containerization (though database setup was tricky with Yarn).
Challenges we ran into
Database & Docker issues: Struggled with configuring the database properly in a Dockerized environment alongside Yarn.
State management: Ensuring smooth data flow between frontend and backend required careful planning.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Created a sleek, user-friendly frontend with intuitive navigation.
Designed and implemented our own custom data model for Bountees.
Successfully set up React Router for dynamic page routing.
What we learned
Database-Docker integration: Gained deeper insight into containerized development workflows.
React best practices: Improved state management and component structuring.
Team collaboration: Strengthened our ability to divide tasks efficiently.
What's next for Bountee!
Expanding features: Adding user reviews, escrow payments, and real-time chat.
Mobile app development: Making Bountee accessible on iOS and Android.
Community growth: Implementing referral systems to boost user engagement.
