Inspiration We were inspired by the Boundless Freedom Project's re-entry curriculum to bring proven mindfulness and grounding practices to people navigating critical life transitions on whatever device they have—without requiring app-store installs, data plans, or user accounts.

What it does Boundless Bridge provides a dual-sided companion web platform featuring mindful practice tools, a consent-gated supporter guide, and an AI Buddy with voice interaction, local memory, and a phone line that works online, offline, or over standard telephone calls.

How we built it We built the platform using TanStack Start (React 19), Tailwind CSS, and a three-tier reply architecture that dynamically evaluates (\text{mode} \in {\text{live},\ \text{device},\ \text{practice}}) across live cloud AI, in-browser offline Gemma 2 2B via WebGPU, and deterministic fallback scripts.

Challenges we ran into Our biggest challenge was ensuring strict architectural boundaries so browser-only WebGPU libraries never crashed server-side rendering, while guaranteeing that state transitions between live AI and scripted fallbacks are always explicitly transparent rather than silently faked.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We successfully ran a quantized 2B language model directly inside a mobile browser with zero server data leakage, and engineered an accessible Twilio voice webhook that brings the exact same conversational companion to anyone with a landline.

What we learned We learned that 4-bit quantization makes client-side browser deployment viable at (2 \times 10^9 \times 4\text{ bits} \approx 1.0\text{ GB}) of weights, while confirming that mental wellness crisis intervention must always remain deterministic rather than left to generative model guesswork.

What's next for Boundless Bridge Next, we plan to connect live Twilio production credentials for the toll-free hotline, implement cryptographically signed participant-to-supporter invite links, and expand the audio practice library alongside community partners.
