Inspiration

After hours of brainstorming, we decided that we wanted to make a game in Unity. None of us had used Unity before, so one of the main purposes was just to learn it.

What it does

Bounce tunnel is a first person view game. Pressing the spacebar boosts you forward into a tunnel made of red, square 'bounce pads'. You can angle yourself toward them and bounce off. You can also press W to temporarily latch onto them to get a moment to aim yourself at the next bounce pad. There is an energy gauge that is used up when you latch up boost. When it runs out you can do neither -- but it regenerates quickly. The objective is to make it as far as possible without missing a bounce pad and flying out of the tunnel.

How we built it

The game is made entirely using Unity and C#. We each worked on different aspects of the game, such as the controls, map, and GUI.

Challenges we ran into

We used Git to manage everyone's different versions of the code. Unity projects do not work well wit Git. We ended up spending almost half of our time on conflict resolution and on fixing errors caused by pulling, pushing, and merging. We did a lot of manually sending individual files and copying them into our environment, and reconnecting broken scripts in Unity.

Accomplishments that we are proud of

Making something that actually runs.

What we learned

Everything we know about Unity.

What's next for Bounce Tunnel

Perhaps if we have some free time we'll finish it up and put it on Steam
