What it Does

Bounce Me is a simple web game where users must bounce a ball into a portal to proceed to the next level. With each level, the number of obstacles increases, making it more challenging to reach the portal. Players can place obstacles anywhere on the map to help achieve the perfect angle for the bounce.

How We Built It

We built the game using a framework called Phaser, which provides a physics engine in JavaScript. This framework helped us handle collision detection and made it easier to develop the game mechanics.

Challenges We Ran Into

The biggest challenge in developing Bounce Me was our lack of experience in game development, particularly in web game development. This is our first game, and we created it within a short timeframe of just two weeks. The planning phase was crucial, especially when selecting the framework to use.

Accomplishments We're Proud Of

Even if this project doesn’t win an award or isn't on par with other submissions, we’re proud of building something in just a few weeks without any prior experience in web game development. It highlights our ability to adapt, meet deadlines, and deliver a functional project successfully.

What We Learned

Throughout the development process, we learned valuable lessons about what to do—and what not to do—in future projects. We also discovered other frameworks we can explore and better understood our limitations. This project serves as a stepping stone, and what we’ve learned will propel us toward creating even more exciting projects in the future.

What's Next for Bounce Me

There’s potential to expand Bounce Me by incorporating new features and scenarios. For instance, we could add levels with different settings, such as environments that incorporate gravity and other unique mechanics. Currently, the game is set in space, but with more time and effort, Bounce Me could evolve into something much more than a simple bouncing game.
