Bos — The AI Operating System for Physical Businesses

Inspiration

Running a physical business today means constantly switching between disconnected tools—POS systems, reservation software, online ordering, delivery platforms, review sites, analytics dashboards, messaging apps, and spreadsheets. Owners spend more time managing software than running their businesses.

We asked a simple question:

What if a business had an AI operating system instead of a collection of apps?

That idea became Bos (Business OS).

Rather than building another ordering platform, we built the foundation for an AI-native operating system that gives business owners a real-time understanding of everything happening inside their business while creating a connected experience for customers.

Restaurants are our first vertical, but the long-term vision is every physical business.


What it does

Bos combines customer interactions, operational data, and AI into a single operating system.

Customers can:

  • Discover businesses
  • Browse live menus
  • Place orders
  • Begin building a relationship with the business

Owners receive a live operational view of their business through:

Instead of waiting for reports after the day ends, Bos continuously understands what is happening as customers interact with the business.


How we built it

Bos is built using:

The architecture is event-driven. Customer interactions generate structured events that power live business intelligence, enabling AI to reason about customer behavior in real time rather than relying solely on completed transactions.


Challenges

The biggest challenge was avoiding the temptation to build another ordering application.

Every architectural decision was evaluated against a single question:

"Does this move us closer to an AI Operating System for businesses?"

That meant designing reusable domain models, event-driven customer presence, and AI-ready infrastructure instead of building isolated features.

Balancing speed for Build Week while protecting the long-term architecture was the hardest engineering decision throughout the project.


Accomplishments

We successfully built a working foundation for an AI-native operating system that includes:

Most importantly, we proved that AI can become the operating layer for a physical business rather than simply another chatbot.


What we learned

The biggest realization was that AI becomes dramatically more valuable when it has continuous operational context.

Instead of answering isolated questions, AI can understand how customers are interacting with a business in real time and help owners make better decisions as events unfold.
