Inspiration
Games that inspired our development process include Balatro, Hollow Knight, and Grime. Each of these games inspired us in different ways and encouraged us to push the bounds of our own creativity while creating a reliable product.
What it does
Our game is a rogue-lite platform where players bet on themselves to complete various challenges versus a ghastly gambler.
How we built it
We built the game in Unity, using a few asset packs and many hours of work. Additional software used include Blender, Substance Designer, and Figma. We coded all of the project in C#.
Challenges we ran into
Dynamic materials such as those featured in the Hourglass were very tricky to get integrated into code. We also struggled with merge conflicts with how Unity handled fonts.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of what we managed to make in such a short of amount of time, even if there are countless parts of the game we wish we could have improved upon.
What we learned
Game Jam games should be very small in scope, so that the final experience can be fun.
What's next for Borrowed Time
The team plans on working on it still! Hopefully for our advanced game development class we're currently taking.
