Inspiration
I was inspired by the Goose that messes with your desktop. Thought it'd be fun to make something like that.
What it does
It will display random images over your screen as you're working! How fun and engaging!
How we built it
I used Godot for everything. Found a nifty app as well that converts from mp4 to ogv for the video in the code that I can't figure out how to display properly.
Challenges we ran into
Literally every step was a pain. I had close to no experience outside of barely using AudioStreamPlayers for a Chillenium project. Every single line is at least the 5th rendition of how I felt I should implement the feature because every time I made something, I realized that when I added onto it, the previous thing would stop working.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud that I've gotten something to show for my work. There's a lot of things wrong with it, and a lot that I didn't get to do, but I'm proud that I've made something. I usually don't submit anything, or feel terrible, when a product isn't perfect in my eyes. This time, I'm just happy that I've learned a bit on how to use Godot for something that is hopefully unique.
What we learned
I've learned that using Godot is a pain. Oh my gosh I miss how Eclipse showed me errors in the editor before I tried running the code
What's next for Boredom Buster
I want to implement a "mega bored mode" or something that will minimize your current screen to split it 50/50, disable the random image generation, then play a clip of family guy funny moments or something.
