Inspiration

We were bored this quarter and were in need of a getaway and also wanted to explore LA more, especially coming to UCLA. During winter quarter we spent many weekends just coding so we wanted to get some Bucket List activities.

What it Does

Our application delivers a survey to a user and asks them questions about what they would like in an activity. Our algorithm then determines the ideal activity for the user based on the activities in the backend that were loaded. Additionally, users can enter activities for things to do so that it gets added to the full database.

How We Built It

Used Typescript.

Challenges We Ran Into

Most of us didn't know how to code in Typescript, most of us didn't really know how to use Git, ran into many many bugs along the way that were specific to Typescript.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We persevered to the end despite running into many problems, and although we didn't get a fully working project by the end we had a fun first Hackathon experience. We also felt that we learned a lot.

What we learned

We learned how to deploy a web app using nextjs and React Typescript. Additionally, we learned how reading and writing data to and from firebase works.

What's Next for Bored?

The next step includes debugging the current errors we have. Also, we want to learn how to web scrape to get the most accurate result from the user. We also want to improve knowledge of typescript, html, and JavaScript.
