Inspiration
We all have played the classic snake game in our childhood. And, in the year of 2021, the snake game is still, indeed, fun. In this hack, we've tried to automate the classic snake game this weekend.
What It Does
It is a redux version of the classic snake game which allows us to control the movement of snake with keys as well as voice!
How We Built It
HTML, CSS and JS. And most importantly, using the P5.js Web Editor platform. We also hosted the game using Firebase and Google Cloud. The p5.speech library is actually based on google cloud as well.
Challenges We Ran Into
It was our first time working with such a game and utilizing speech-to-text functions for movement. It was difficult to recreate the classic, at first, but we did, indeed, manage. Afterwards, figuring out how to get the microphone working with the voice commands was difficult, too! We tried hosting our game on a firebase website but it doesn't ask for the microphone permissions, that's something we couldn't figure out.
Accomplishments That We're Proud Of
We all loved the snake game during our childhood. It was indeed iconic and fun. Being able to recreate it that too with voice automation is what we are proud of!
What We Learned
We learnt more about the p5.js web editor and its libraries, as well as figured out how voice commands work.
What's Next for Bored Game Board Game
First we want to make the firebase website ask for microphone permissions so that our game is working with both voice and keys and next we wish to add different levels to the game and make it more difficult and interesting. We also wish to make it a multiplayer game so that we can play this classis with our friends!
