Inspiration
The inspiration for the project came from other rhythm games and unique game systems like the Nintendo Wii.
What it does
Our project has two parts:
- A custom rhythm game designed for our controller.
- A custom Bop It XT that is able to connect to a computer running the game and transmit button press data via Bluetooth.
How we built it
We built this project using Unity as our game engine. Alongside that, we reused most of the parts that the Bop It originally came with.
Challenges we ran into
Some of us hadn't used Unity before, so that in itself was a challenge to work through. We also had some problems with the Bluetooth connection on the Bop It that we were using to communicate with the game.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of getting a working Unity game up and running. Reusing the original Bop It parts was also pretty neat.
What we learned
Some of us hadn't used Unity before, so we learned how to work with it throughout the project. We also learned about hardware design and how to solder. One last thing we learned was how to use ESP32s.
