Inspiration We noticed that a lot of creators and small business owners were spending way too much time trying to figure out what to post - searching for the right audio, thinking of captions, and guessing what might go viral. It felt frustrating and repetitive. So we asked ourselves: Why can’t this be easier? What if AI could just do the heavy lifting - find what’s trending, suggest what to post, and make content creation feel effortless? That’s how BoostMate came to life - to help creators stay relevant, save time, and focus on what they love: creating.

What it does BoostMate is an AI-powered tool designed to help influencers, small businesses, and content creators generate high-performing social media content in seconds. It removes the guesswork by delivering trend-based suggestions that are tailored to your niche.

How we built it Frontend: AngularJS, HTML, CSS & Bootstrap 5 Backend & Database: Firebase (Authentication, Firestore) Hosting: Vercel Version Control: GitHub API: Gemini API (for AI content suggestions) Data Format: JSON

Challenges we ran into One of the main challenges we faced was that the link to the audio wasn’t getting generated properly through the API. It took a lot of trial and error, and although it’s still not perfect, we finally managed to make it work in a usable form. Another hurdle was creating the logic behind the AI responses - mapping the right trends, formats, and captions to different niches wasn’t as straightforward as we thought. It required fine-tuning and some creative workarounds to deliver results that felt relevant and valuable. Despite these challenges, we pushed through and got a working version live!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Built a functional MVP of BoostMate within a short timeframe using AngularJS, Firebase, Gemini API, and Vercel.
  2. Successfully integrated AI to generate niche-specific content suggestions like trending audios, captions, hashtags, and formats.
  3. Hosted the project live on Vercel with version control via GitHub.

What we learned

  1. Building an AI-powered tool sounds simple - but getting relevant and usable responses requires a lot of iteration and prompt tuning.
  2. Creating content logic that feels human and trend-aware isn't just about code - it's about understanding how real people use social media.
  3. Integrating multiple tools like Firebase, AngularJS, Gemini API, and Vercel taught us how to manage complexity in a fast-moving project.
  4. Time constraints pushed us to prioritise core features and stay focused on delivering a working MVP.
