Inspiration
Despite being qualified, many women and job-seekers struggle with confidence during interviews, networking, and workplace communication. Studies like those from the Harvard Business Review emphasize that soft skills—like relationship-building and cultural awareness—are often more important than technical qualifications. We created BoostHer to address this gap, giving users a safe space to develop the soft skills that can make or break career success.
What it does
BoostHer is a web-based platform that helps users improve soft skills through:
- A dashboard that tracks user confidence
- Personalized tasks to improve soft skills
- Badges to increase motivation and gamify the experience
How we built it
The UI was designed in Figma, with responsiveness in mind for mobile and desktop users.
Challenges we ran into
- Designing a user experience that was empowering without being overwhelming
- Time constraints around connecting backend functionality with dynamic frontend rendering
- Integrating different ideas into one app
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built an accessible and visually appealing interface in a short time
- Tackled an issue we’re genuinely passionate about—confidence and equity in the workplace
What we learned
- The importance of UX in helping users feel supported, not judged
- That building tools for empowerment means balancing tech with empathy
What's next for BoostHer
- Incorporate peer feedback and mentorship matching
- Integrate LinkedIn and YouTube and OpenAI into our tasks
