Inspiration
Our inspiration for our project is one of the productivity "hacks" or "tricks" people with ADHD use, which is body doubling.
What it does
Our project anonymously matches the users with each other and create a session to work on each of their tasks. The anonymous aspect works by using a persona in place of their face in the video feed.
How we built it
For most of the UI and the website, we used react. We created a simulacrum of the database and a functional API to access the database, using supabase and glitch respectively. We also used node to mathematically pair people based on their personalities. To represent the technology to shroud people's identities, we simulated it using Google Meets, OBS, and veadotube mini for the persona.
Challenges we ran into
During the entirety of the hackathon, we ran into 2 main problems. One was that, unbeknownst to us, our idea was already in the market, FocusMate. To differentiate ourselves, we narrowed our demographic to introverted young adults or those with social anxiety. The other problem was that, we ended up "stepping on each other's feet" and had to take a step back and refocus ourselves.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Although our project is still a ways away from how we envisioned it, we're still proud that we had managed to complete a minimally viable product to present.
What we learned
The biggest thing we learned was being able to recognize and refocus when things currently planned are not working.
What's next for Ducky Buddy
First on the list is getting it fully implemented. The second would be to fix the UI aesthetics.
