Inspirations

Definitely Doom. Either as part of a limitation or by direct inspo, I think the idea of a boomer shooter really fit in, and we’re lucky to have thought about it even before the theme came up. Other inspirations include Space Invaders and Mini Maze, an old Atari FPS game.

How Did We Build It?

Most of the work was done on Unity. Dom (our artist) used both Adobe Animate and Firealpaca for the UI and Sprites in the game.

Challenges we ran into

We definitely overlooked the scope, metaphorically and physically. Our map is just too big, and we spent most of the time trying to figure out how to actually get the sprites in-game.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Actually learning how to get the sprites in and looking good was the best part. O’Tega used an add-on to actually get our animations working and he & Ibrahim say that their favorite part of this was the UI.

What we learned

When dealing with a 24 hour deadline, we gotta reduce our scope and cut our original ideas down. Next time we will get a clear and simple idea first, and then cut if needed. No additions.

What's next for Boomer Shooter

Perhaps we’ll go back to it when we have more time. We do want to show what it could’ve looked like fully actualized, and when we do we’ll actually make sure to think: “How much time would this take to implement?”
