Inspiration

We wanted to find a fun way to tell the story behind places in New York, starting at Washington Square Park, in front of our Univeristy, which not so long ago was a potter's field. We thought we could start the project by building an MVP touring the members of the Hackathon through the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences building, where the hackathon was hosted.

What it does

Boomba! challenges its users to complete scavenger hunts. At each stop, the app will bring up clues, in form of photos, text, or a combination of both. The users will then need to prove they found the right location, either by submitting a photo or a text that can only be known in the location. Boomba! will then use Computer Vision and string verification to validate the spots. After each stop, the app will return an interesting fact about the place AND a themed GIF!

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge we found was bringing all screens, models, and components together as a product in 24h.
