Inspiration

We're fascinated by a very human craving: the urge to see results right now. Boom Factory turns that impulse into a game — every tap makes something, every product becomes money, and every dollar buys a faster line. The dream it dangles is simple and irresistible: go from a single toy-stamping press to a billion-dollar empire.

What it does

Boom Factory is a tap-driven idle factory tycoon for the Simulation & Management genre. You produce goods, pack them, ship them for cash, and reinvest — while a management layer keeps you honest: upgrades cost money, orders run on a timer, and warehouses fill up. Play smart and you climb; overspend and you edge toward bankruptcy.

Its signature twist: five factories, each a completely different production style.

  • Toys — parallel lines, each stamping its own product
  • Phones — a serial belt where the product grows stage by stage
  • Computers — an assembly line that combines components into a PC
  • Motorbikes — fixed transform stations feeding an output conveyor
  • Cars — six stations where the car visibly transforms, then a car-carrier hauls finished cars away

The value ladder runs from a few-dollar toy duck to a multi-billion-dollar car — the road from bankruptcy to billionaire.

How we built it

This submission is a complete pre-production package — a GDD, player journey map, visual concept package, and production plan — backed by a working prototype built in Three.js. The prototype already runs the core loop and all five production styles, which let us design against real, playable behavior rather than theory. It's designed for the Meta Horizon Worlds mobile experience, with game logic kept separate from rendering so it can port to Horizon's component API.

What we learned

The core loop has to be proven before content is added. Building the prototype taught us exactly how to tune the economy so a meaningful upgrade is always just out of reach, and how to make each factory teach exactly one new idea so complexity never spikes.

What's next

Managers/HR automation, a prestige reset for long-term replay, seasonal and high-value timed orders, market-risk events, and a sixth premium factory as an end-game goal.
