Inspiration
We were inspired by spotify's recent social media development and we started asking questions about features they were missing that we would enjoy using. From there we decided how we wanted to take the project and we all thought it would be fun to develop a really solid UI to bring the idea to life.
What it does
A working UI for our social media platform complete with sample user profiles, artists, etc.
How we built it
Carolyn spent a lot of time designing and curating the fonts and colors and themes for the site on Sketch while jess and I worked on the functionality and layout of the individual web pages. Afterwords Carolyn went through and stylized the whole website.
Challenges we ran into
Being first time users of html and css there was a learning curve we had to get around. We also all hit a wall a few times with the lack of sleep!!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We all had a lot of fun playing around with new skills and web design. We are very proud of what we were able to accomplish and we feel that the website accurately conveys the platform we were all envisioning.
What we learned
Jess and I learned css and html for the first time and Carolyn focused on UI/UX development in Sketch.
What's next for Boom
We want to add more features to Boom like music syncing, "song of your city", and connect it directly to the spotify API so that you can stream music directly from the website. We would also like to turn the website into an app!
