BookSwap

Inspiration

I am part of Start2Finish. This organization promotes reading and exercise in the Kingston community. I wanted to create an app that promotes reading by allowing others to make book swaps!

What it does

People can login, sign up, view available books, contact the owner of those books, and lastly list the books they own!

How we built it

React, MySQL, JWT Tokens, and Node.Js. Used Google Book's API.

Challenges we ran into

Authorization and contact forms. It's still buggy!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Was able to successfully connect to the Google Books API.

What we learned

How to handle APIs and authenticate users.

What's next for BookSwap

Fix the login functionality, standardize the styling, promote gamification, add a google maps feature so that users can swap books with other users near the same location, in app messaging, alter book availability, and fix the search functionality.
