Books On A Budget

I plan to take data from book websites and transfer it into an array that can be displayed in a GUI. The goal is to create an app in Java that will help people to find cheaper History books.

Inspiration

I planned to make this app for my final project in my java class, this hackathon has given me dedicated time to get started on it.

What it does

It is supposed to display books history books under $15 dollars from various websites.

How we built it

I used several Java libraries (Jsoup and JavafX) to create graphics and do web scraping.

Challenges we ran into

My plans are larger than my current experience with Java, so in addition to getting work done, I have had to spend a lot of time learning the different tools as I work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I learned how to make a web scraper with java.

What we learned

JavaFX scene builder, web scraping with Java, and Jsoup library.

What's next for Books On A Budget

It is not able to run in its entirety yet, but it will be a continuous work in progress. It will not be finished this weekend, but it is something that I will continue to work on the rest of the semester.
