Inspiration
We were inspired to create this website due to our appreciation of books. We grew up loving to read, and we hope to provide increased accessibility and encourage both students to learn and teachers to foster a learning environment.
What it does
Our website includes multiple components, providing basic recommendations for different genres of books, mainly targeting elementary and middle schoolers. By providing a basic list of books, we can create a starting point for both students and teachers to gain access to appropriate and educational texts. We also have tips for teachers, and several reading sources where students can learn and grow in their reading skills.
How we built it
We used the Replit online compiler, and we used the HTML programming language.
Challenges we ran into
Several times we struggled with the imaging and the aesthetics of our website, as this being our first time learning to use HTML. However, we were able to overcome these struggles and find a way to make our website work!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of being able to create this website by learning to code with a programming language we were previously unfamiliar with. We also really like the various elements and images we implemented, and in general able to transform our love for reading into an innovative and educational website.
What we learned
We learned to use a new programming language, HTML, and how to overcome our challenges quickly.
What's next for Books For The Better
Making more book recommendations, and giving more accessibility to even more useful resources that can help a large audience.
