Inspiration:

In a family deeply immersed in the love of reading and within the vibrant online book club communities I frequent, a common question echoes: "What are you reading now?" Yet, regardless of genre preferences, every reader encounters the same dilemma: discovering their next captivating read. Endlessly sifting through threads, reviews, and ratings can be daunting. Hence, the birth of BookMatch—an app envisioned to streamline this journey, swiftly guiding us to our next literary delight.

What it does:

BookMatch engages users with tailored questions to discern their unique reading preferences, subsequently offering personalized book recommendations, complete with summaries, ratings, and purchase links. Additionally, users gain access to curated selections from renowned book clubs such as Oprah Winfrey's Book Club and Reese's Book Club, each accompanied by insightful details, reader ratings, and direct purchasing options.

How we built it:

Utilizing AWS AI App Creator, BookMatch was meticulously crafted, leveraging features like Hakiu Creator, User Input, and Text Generator to ensure seamless functionality and user experience.

Challenges we ran into:

  1. Overcoming the challenge of refreshing recommendations upon user request led to the implementation of a secondary module to generate new suggestions.
  2. Formatting hyperlinks posed a hurdle, requiring careful adjustments to ensure proper display.
  3. Testing the functionality of Kindle links for book purchases proved challenging.
