Inspiration

I wanted to create a place to visualize books and the location published and date published. It is interesting to put the book into the context of other books and see where authors overlap and their influence.

What it does

Search a book title and using wikipedia API plots the information on a scatterplot.

How we built it

Use python to extract data

Challenges we ran into

Data formatting on wikipedia is not consistent and challenging to extract, some book titles work while others don't because of the infobox formatting

What's next for book visualization

I am interested to have a wider database and based on a search recommend books with similar date published in a range and location.
