Book A Table (Reservanté)

Inspiration

One of the ideas in an idea blog post, also we like food. Create convenient interface for hangry students who don't want to wait for seats.

What it does

Reservanté allows customers to view reserved tables and reserve free tables at specified times. Also allow owners to create, edit and save a visual layout of the floorplan.

How I built it

Tears. Building a comprehensive plan on google docs. Watching tutorials on youtube for JavaFX. Distributing tasks based on each member's skillsets.

Challenges I ran into

Deciding on how to keep track of times, customers, tables, and reservations. Deciding on specific data structures and implementations to achieve the functionality we wanted. Github branch and merging issues. Intellij bloops (imports not working etc.). Debugging. Merging all the pieces together. Finishing it in time.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Completing a minimal viable program in less than 24 hours that is close to our original idea.

What I learned

Collaborating with Github (forking vs branching). Closing and reopening the program can sometimes magically fix issues. Limiting ideas to things that are feasible within the given time frame.
