Inspiration
The formation of our team was based upon or pre-existing friendship and also our love for cooking and health. One of the biggest components to making delicious meals is taking stock of what you need to create the dishes you wish to make. A way to automate this process would be a useful tool for any home cook, at any time.
What it does
Bonjour Fresh is a vast library of Recipes with ingredients and steps for preparation and cooking. It is fit with a built-in grocery planning feature to allow any home-cook to effortlessly plan their next weekly trip to the grocery store.
How we built it
- A Flask Backend that acted as our API that handled Requests for recipes
- A React Native Frontend that displayed the recipes, weekly plans, and grocery lists
Challenges we ran into
- Database Design affecting query logic in the Backend
- Page Navigation was inconsistent at times with edge-case bugs
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Full-functioning Web-based mobile application in 24 hours.
What we learned
- A common goal is a great motivator for each individual, and each individual can bring out the best in each other.
- Even if some teammates are less familiar with certain technologies, they can still effectively synergize with the more-informed teammates for high-efficiency
What's next for Bonjour Fresh
- It is set up as an App to be expanded on. Another feature to add would be allowing users to text-parse existing web recipes to be added to the database which then would allow us to generate weekly shopping lists for a limitless supply of recipes for every dietary need.
