Bond Buddy

Inspiration

University events are meant to be where friendships start. But for many students, walking into an event alone can feel intimidating. Everyone seems to already be in groups, laughing and chatting, and suddenly you’re unsure who to talk to or what to say. Many students skip events entirely because of this social anxiety. We wanted to change that. Instead of forcing people to network, we asked ourselves: What if meeting people at events felt less awkward and more like a game (motivating) ? This idea inspired Bond Buddy, a social app that helps students connect at university events through personality matching, conversation starters, and interactive quests.

What it does

Bond Buddy helps students make meaningful connections at events while keeping it fun and rewarding.
Users take a short, engaging personality quiz to determine their social style and interests.
At the event, users enter an event code to see a Social Radar of attendees.
Each profile shows a bio and instant conversation starters, so users never struggle to begin a conversation.
Users complete social quests like: Meet someone new → +20 points
Points unlock baking recipes in a virtual kitchen, turning social interaction into a playful reward system.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a fully functional prototype that allows users to join events, complete quests, and view their Social Radar.
Designed a fun and intuitive UI that combines gamification with social networking.
Developed a reward system with baking recipes, making socialising playful and motivating.
Created a solution addressing real student social anxiety at university events.
