An Intelligent AR Sidekick that Helps You Tackle Challenging Social Situations

BOND is designed to help introverted, socially anxious, and neurodivergent individuals feel more confident and connected during real-world social events, such as parties, speed-dating events, or professional conferences. After getting to know its owner's personality type and goals for the event, BOND helps them make more meaningful connections by pre-connecting with other users´ bots. It filters based on shared interests, goals, and personality type, recommends connections and even suggests how to initiate each conversation.

💡 Inspiration

Meeting and connecting with strangers at social events is challenging for many of us. It's easy to feel overwhelmed or disconnected in these settings, especially for neurodivergent or socially anxious individuals.

We built BOND to help reduce the cognitive burden for these people and foster higher quality connections. At its core, BOND is about community-building through more human interaction—powered by Snap Spectacles.

What it does

🗣️ Listens & Understands: BOND starts by interviewing its user. It uses speech recognition and the ChatGPT API to assign them a spirit-bot that matches their personality type, based on the True Colors personality typing system.

🐾 Stylized Companion: The user's True Colors personality type is visualized as a custom spirit-animal-inspired sidekick; A spirit-bot!

🗣️ Determines Goals and Intentions: Before a given social event, the BOND spirit-bot interviews its owner about their goals and intentions for that event, then uses that information to find appropriate matches in the crowd.

🤝 Inclusive for All: Whether you’re neurodivergent, socially anxious, or just shy, BOND helps you connect and have meaningful conversations. And even socially savvy users can use BOND to help make the most efficient use of their time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Built a fully functional Spectacles-based AR assistant from scratch
  • Designed and animated a unique, expressive bot companion
  • Integrated speech-to-text capabilities and used the ChatGPT API to assign the user a personality type based on natural language input

What's next for BOND: Bot for Outreach, Networking, and Dialogue

We want to extend the depth of understanding that BOND can develop about their owner over time, so that its recommendations can be even more precise and personalized.

We want to add a light game layer to BOND. Interactions at an event earn the user tokens, which can be traded to upgrade and customize their spirit-bot, making it even more personalized.

We want BOND to actively listen to conversations and log them with keywords so that it's easier to make meaningful follow-ups after the event.

We want to add the ability to for "leap-frog" recommendations. i.e. If I have a conversation with someone, and then later they speak to another person about a topic that my spirit-bot knows would be of interest to me, my spirit-bot will encourage me to approach that person and suggest the best place to start the conversation.

We intend to have unique interactions at specific events, meaning the BOND bots would react to specific area within the environment.
