Inspiration

Our inspiration for bona-fide stemmed from our desire to create a simple yet impactful tool that could provide users with daily doses of inspiration and wisdom. We wanted to harness the power of famous quotes to uplift and motivate individuals, especially during challenging times.

What it does

bona-fide is a website that leverages an API to generate random famous quotes and display them on the screen alongside the author of each quote. Users can visit the website and receive a new quote each time they refresh the page, offering them a diverse range of insights and perspectives.

How we built it

We built bona-fide using a combination of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a third-party API for fetching the quotes. The front-end interface was designed to be intuitive and visually appealing, while the back-end functionality was implemented to seamlessly retrieve and display the quotes and their respective authors.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges we encountered was integrating the third-party API into our website and ensuring smooth communication between the front-end and back-end components. Additionally, we faced some difficulties in formatting and displaying the quotes and author names in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the challenges we faced, we're proud to have successfully developed and launched bona-fide within the time constraints of the hackathon. We're particularly proud of the seamless integration of the API and the overall user experience we were able to deliver.

What we learned

Through the process of building bona-fide, we learned valuable lessons in API integration, front-end development, and user interface design. We also gained a deeper appreciation for the power of quotes in inspiring and motivating individuals.

What's next for bona-fide

In the future, we envision expanding bona-fide's functionality by incorporating features such as user customisation options, the ability to save favorite quotes, and social sharing capabilities. We also plan to further optimise the website for mobile devices to enhance accessibility for users on the go. Additionally, we're considering partnering with organisations or influencers to promote positivity and inspiration through curated quote collections.
