Inspiration

Travelling is fun but planning often isn't. From finding the restaurants you enjoy to fitting the activities into your budget, your vacation plans can quickly turn into a logistical nightmare. Nearly everyone wishes that vacation can be as painless and as straightforward as possible. This is where our idea for our project comes into play. Bon Voyage was our solution to alleviate some of the stress people experience when traveling.

What it does

Bon Voyage is meant to be your own personal trip planner AI. It helps you find the activities you want to do and the food that you want to eat. Not only does it help you find places to go, it also tries its best to ensure that all of your travel endeavours fall into your given budget. Bon Voyage is able to quickly provide details on the activities you are interested in, from listing prices to introducing highlights. All of these functionalities aim to improve your travelling experience by handling all the tedious research and planning for you.

How we built it

This web application was built using React+Vite+Tailwind for the front end and django for the Backend. The AI assistant used to extract and provide data is powered using Perplexity.

Challenges we ran into

Implementing Tailwind CSS into our Vite/React App was initially a bit of a hassle, given that Tailwind was upgraded to v4 just a few days prior. Learning to work with new frameworks with little documentation and stressful conditions truly demonstrated our team's ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As a team, we are proud to have been able to fully encapsulate our project vision into a working product. Each one of us faced difficult challenges that had to be overcome. However, the pride that allows us to entrust each other as strong teammates and our shared enthusiasm for winning is a bond that outweighs all other hardships.

What's next for Bon Voyage

As society continues to shift towards AI-based technologies, it is more than likely that a Bon Voyage will find itself in a sea of competitors. Our goals for Bon Voyage are to improve and allow for faster AI scraping/generation, as well as implementing mobile support in order to reach a wider audience.
