Inspiration

Making plans for travel is a very time consuming process as it consists of a lot of research and planning, ranging from choosing a good place to budgeting. People spend countless hours on online travel platforms, such as TripAdvisor, searching for good vacation spots, tourist attractions, etc. However, in the end, it almost becomes worthless because they never find the “perfect” place. There are so many places in the world to travel to, but people are unable to find them because they do not know about them or it does not go according to their preferences. This problem gave me inspiration to create this app as I wanted to make travel planning easier.

What it does

My app asks the user a series of short questions, such as the type of trip, the region, preferred weather, and budget. After taking in and analyzing this data, our app generates a list of possible places that the user can travel to; these results are solely based on the user’s preferences. Moreover, this app allows the user to find out more about the place, by providing a variety of links.

How we built it

I used Figma to create the user interface and app prototype, while using HTML for the front-end development.

Challenges we ran into

I had a few challenges with this project. Firstly, I had to design the app in a manner that was minimalist yet easy to use. Secondly, I had to convert the design into HTML code. Since there is no online platform that can precisely convert Figma design into HTML code, I had to do it manually.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I was able to design a user-friendly app prototype, where the user will be able to interact with the app. I was also able to do frontend development, using HTML.

What we learned

I learnt how to design the user interface better as well as how to convert Figma design to HTML code.

What's next for Bon Voyage

This app could be developed in depth, such as by integrating Google Maps as well as online travel platforms, such as TripAdvisor. I could add features where the user will be able to plan their travel budget and save it to their account. Furthermore, we could also give the user a way to book flight tickets, via the app itself.
