Inspiration

We were inspired by games like Celeste and Undertale, since the start we knew we wanted to make a 2d pixel art game and we also were really dedicated to making the gameplay smooth and simple.

What it does

In this game you play as an old man (boomer) who throws candy at children if the children don't get hit and reach your house they will take your candy and you will starve to death.

How we built it

We used Unity as our game engine, we thought about using 2d platformer presets, however we wanted to challenge ourselves so we decided to do everything from the ground-up ourselves.

Challenges we ran into

Making this game in just a weekend was very tough, we made many mistakes, but in the end we were able to overcome all of the challenges. The biggest challenge we ran into was making the gameplay feel smooth and simple without influencing the difficulty of the game.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of the 2d art, of the gameplay and of actually building every aspect of the game from the ground-up.

What we learned

We learned a lot of C#, how to use 2d physics in Unity, we learned about the importance of game design and the importance of planning before building. We put to work our artistic abilities and learned how to make 2d pixel art animations.

What's next for Bommers Vs Zoomers

Depending on the feedback we get, we'll see whether we want to make improvements to the game to make it commercial or if we should just classify it as a hackathon project.
