BombSweeper

Inspiration

Wanted to make a retro style game while encouraging friendly competition on reddit by bringing a classic game right to the platform.

What it does

Players compete in daily speed sweeps to top the leaderboard. Race against the clock to find all of the hidden bombs with all of the features of a modern minesweeper game.

How we built it

Inspired by retro desktop applications and feedback from the minesweeper community to build the ideal sweeper game.

Challenges we ran into

Building a zoomable grid that works on desktop and the reddit mobile app was challenging. Determining when the user was zooming vs touching tiles, if we accidently revealed a tile when the user did not mean to then it would not be a good game!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The retro look of the splash screen and the gameplay.

What's next for BombSweeper

Community created boards with custom shapes, bomb types, indicators and more.
