Bombay Afterglow – AI x Human Collaboration

Inspiration

“Bombay Afterglow” was born from my desire to blend human storytelling with the futuristic power of AI. I wanted to capture the essence of Mumbai’s neon nights, monsoon rain, and the emotional afterglow of a city that never sleeps.

What it does

Bombay Afterglow is an original music project that fuses AI-driven tools with human creativity to create a futuristic, emotionally charged soundscape. The song blends electronic and cinematic vibes with a uniquely crafted AI-assisted music video, offering a complete audio-visual storytelling experience. From composition (Suno AI) to visuals (Kling, Higgsfield, OpenArt, Hailuo) and lyrics + creative direction (ChatGPT + human input), the project demonstrates how technology and artistry can co-exist to push the boundaries of modern music.

How we built it

The music was composed using Suno AI for lyrics and sound generation, fine-tuned for vibe and flow. Visuals were created and enhanced with Kling AI, Higgsfield AI, OpenArt AI, and Hailuo AI, while ChatGPT was used to design the narrative, style prompts, and structure. Editing, sequencing, and final direction were handled under my label Kanush Khanna Records, ensuring artistic consistency.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was maintaining authenticity — making sure the project felt emotional and human while using cutting-edge AI tools. Finding the right balance between futuristic soundscapes and relatable human emotion required multiple iterations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Successfully produced and released an original AI x Human collaborative track across major platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. • Designed a professional-quality music video entirely through AI visual tools, without a traditional studio or film crew. • Created official cover art and branding (Kanush Khanna Records) to establish a consistent artist identity. • Made it to the stage of sharing AI-driven music at scale, showing that independent creators can compete in quality with industry-level productions. • Built a fully self-sufficient creative pipeline (song → cover art → video → distribution) powered by AI and human vision.

What we learned

This project taught me how AI can act as a true collaborator — helping with music generation, lyrics, visuals, and storytelling while still keeping human creativity at the core. I learned how to refine AI outputs, direct them towards a vision, and balance tech with emotion.

What's next for Bombay Afterglow – AI x Human Collaboration

• Expanding into a full album (“Gravity of Love”) blending genres like EDM, Lo-fi, Country, and Hindi-English fusion. • Creating live performance visuals using AI-driven generative backdrops to bring Bombay Afterglow to concerts and festivals. • Partnering with musicians, singers, and labels (both human & AI-assisted) for collaborative projects and remixes. • Submitting the project to global awards and competitions (e.g., Chroma Awards) to highlight the potential of AI in music. • Scaling Kanush Khanna Records into an independent AI-first label, specializing in pushing boundaries of music + visual storytelling.
