What Inspired Me
I was fascinated by Bolt.new’s challenge to turn a single sentence into a full-blown product. So I asked myself: “Could one prompt capture the entire story of StackBlitz, Bolt.new, and the world-record hackathon, and wrap it in a delightful UX?” Bolty was born to prove that anyone can weave rich documentation, playful UI, and real code into a one-click-deployable experience.
What Bolty does
Bolty is an in-browser assistant that answers questions related to StackBlitz, its AI off-shoot Bolt.new, and the record-setting World's Largest Hackathon.
How I Built It
I fed Bolt.new one prompt of roughly 1700 words that acted both as screenplay and construction manual. Within that prompt I laid out the full branching Q&A tree, specified exact positions for the badge and avatar, described the light/dark theme logic, and even narrated micro-interactions such as the ripple on click. After pressing “Generate,” the platform produced a fully responsive assistant.
Challenges I Ran Into
I encountered two closely related challenges while building Bolty. First, I had to pack everything into a single prompt: it needed to cover the UI spec, content tree, animations, theming, and assets without confusing the model. Second, balancing animation and performance was tricky—too much CSS would hurt low-power devices, while too little would leave the interface feeling flat.
Accomplishments That I'm Proud Of
I’m proud to have built a fully functional in-browser assistant with only one prompt—perfect proof of Bolt.new’s magic. I’m also pleased with the pixel-perfect compliance achieved with the design brief, from the theme toggle to Bolty’s avatar. Finally, I managed to create a friendly flow that answers questions related to StackBlitz, Bolt.new, and the World's Largest Hackathon.
What I Learned
The most important thing I learned is that prompt engineering is software design: clarity, sequencing, and constraints matter as much as code. Building Bolty also deepened my UI knowledge: I have now understood how even subtle micro-interactions (hover, ripple, tick) can dramatically raise perceived quality.
What's Next For Bolty
The next things I'll do to improve Bolty (and my vide-coding as well) are: a. Pull real-time hackathon stats (registrations, prize pool) into Bolty. b. Make Bolty available in other languages, starting with my native Italian. c. Let visitors up-vote new topics and watch Bolty’s knowledge grow.
