Inspiration
I’ve always been fascinated by the intersection of Web3 gaming and the metaverse. With Bolta, I wanted to create a cyberpunk world where players not only explore and interact, but also truly own their in-game assets through blockchain technology. I used Bolt, an AI that helped me code the game, which pushed me to turn this idea into a reality much faster than expected.
What it does
Bolta is a Web3 game set in a vibrant, futuristic cyberpunk metaverse filled with colorful buildings, flying vehicles, animated billboards, music halls, and immersive experiences. Players can purchase Algorand Standard Assets (ASAs) such as VIP passes, glasses, shirts, gloves, boots, cars, and spaceships. These assets are directly usable within the game. I also integrated AI-generated voices using ElevenLabs and used prompt-driven narrative tools to bring the game world and its characters to life.
How we built it
I built Bolta using Svelte for the UI and Three.js for rendering the 3D environment. Bolt, the AI assistant, was essential during development—helping me write, debug, and improve code quickly. For the blockchain layer, I used Algorand to create and manage in-game assets (ASAs), allowing real-time transactions within the game. I integrated ElevenLabs to generate dynamic character voices from prompts, making the experience feel more alive and reactive.
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge was integrating blockchain transactions into the game flow without disrupting user experience. Optimizing the 3D scenes for performance across devices also required careful tuning. Aligning AI-generated voice output with the in-game animations was another technical hurdle, and managing a scalable Svelte architecture while layering in Web3 logic pushed me to think modularly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud of building a fully functional Web3 game in the browser with real blockchain integration and immersive 3D visuals. Using AI like Bolt to assist in coding and ElevenLabs to bring characters to life with dynamic voices made this project unique and expressive. Creating a digital economy inside the game using ASAs was a key milestone that I’m very proud of.
What we learned
I learned how to combine Svelte and Three.js effectively for interactive 3D interfaces, and I gained deep insights into Algorand’s blockchain tools, especially ASAs. Working with AI tools like Bolt taught me new workflows for development and creativity. I also learned how to design a smart asset system for games and integrate voice AI to build immersive environments.
What's next for Bolta
Next, I want to expand Bolta by adding real-time multiplayer support, VR/AR compatibility, and user-generated content systems. I also plan to open up a marketplace where players can trade their assets as NFTs and personalize their characters or environments. My goal is to build a living, evolving city in the metaverse where every player can leave their mark.
