Inspiration
I was constantly impressed by sites built end-to-end from simple AI prompts—but frustrated by how often my own “seed” prompts produced vague or incomplete briefs. I wanted a tool that could take a one-line idea and turn it into a fully scoped, designer- and developer-ready website blueprint. Bolt Prompt Enhancer was born from that need to bridge human creativity and AI precision.
What it does
Bolt Prompt Enhancer lets you paste a simple prompt, like “a directory of local dog parks”, and instantly generates a comprehensive, markdown-formatted brief. The output covers:
- A clear project summary and goals
- Detailed UI/page map with neo-brutalist styling cues
- Complete tech stack (frontend, backend, database, deployment)
- Data models, and component breakdowns
How we built it
- Frontend: Next.js 14, React 18, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS with a custom outline plugin
- Styling: Neo-brutalist design system (vivid flat colors, thick black outlines, sharp corners)
- Backend: Edge Route Handlers in Next.js calling Gemini’s API
Challenges we ran into
- Failing to always parse the API response
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
- Launched with a fully responsive neo-brutalist design system
- fast and extremely simple to use UI
What we learned
- How to handle API keys
- The importance of clear developer documentation and example galleries
What’s next for Bolt Prompt Enhancer
- User accounts & saved histories: Let users bookmark and revisit enhanced prompts
- Allow User to edit the enhanced prompt in-place: they copy the prompt directly to Bolt after it fits exactly what they want
- Shareable galleries: Public showcase of top community prompts and blueprints
- Plugin architecture: Support for alternative AI models and custom templates
